16 COVID-19 variants found active in the state: Uttarakhand health department

Dehradun: At least 16 variants of coronavirus have been found active in Uttarakhand, based on a report of samples despatched by the state authorities for genome sequencing for the virus. 

As per the Uttarakhand Health Department, the most typical coronavirus variant in the samples has been found to be SARS-CoV-2.

Three completely different mutations of the UK variant have been found in 35 samples, whereas 12 mutations have additionally been found in different samples, stated the state health department.

It additional said that from Uttarakhand, a complete of 851 samples had been despatched to Delhi for genome sequencing, out of which the report of 285 samples was obtained, whereas that for 531 samples are but to return. Out of those 285 samples, 208 samples have the widespread SARS-CoV-2.

In 32 samples, the UK variant B117 was found whereas in one pattern the UK variant of B16171 and in two samples, the B16172 variant was found, stated the health department.

According to the Union Health Ministry, there are 78,802 active coronavirus circumstances in Uttarakhand and 4,811 died on account of the lethal illness on Sunday.
