An offence has been registered towards a minor for allegedly beating a stray dog to demise in suburban Santacruz right here, police mentioned on Tuesday.
Based on a grievance lodged by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the Santacruz police registered a case towards the 17-year-old boy who brutally attacked and killed the dog on April 24, an official mentioned.
The dog had allegedly bitten the accused’s father two months in the past, he mentioned.
The injured animal was rushed to the Bombay Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) hospital in Parel, the place he died inside hours, the official mentioned.
An offence underneath part 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, and so on) and different related provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered towards the boy, he added.
