Uttarkashi: At least three individuals have died and 4 others are reported lacking after a cloudburst in Uttarakhand. The incident came about in Uttarkashi district, based on officers.
(*4*) Inspector Jagdamba Prasad, Team Incharge, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), was quoted as saying by information company ANI.
Rescue operations are at present underway in the area.
As per the SDRF, Prasad was initially knowledgeable by the District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO), Uttarkashi that some individuals have been trapped in the village because of water coming from the drain in Mando village on Gangotri street.
Acting upon the data, the group instantly reached the spot and began rescue operations.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecasted intense to very intense rainfall over the western Himalayan area – throughout components of Jammu Division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, northwest Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, adjoining West Rajasthan, South Haryana, and Gangetic West Bengal and neighbouring areas on Monday. The IMD has predicted heavy rains in these areas until July 21.
