800 athletes arrive in Gulmarg for Khelo India Winter games

Around 800 athletes arrived in Kashmir on Tuesday to take part in the fourth version of Khelo India Winter Games, because the venue, Gulmarg, obtained greater than three ft of recent snowfall in the previous 48 hours.

An official stated the athletes from throughout the nation will take part in occasions like snowboarding, alpine snowboarding, Nordic snowboarding, and ski mountaineering. “The field of play has been set up by the best technical teams. We aim to provide international standards to the players. Snow beaters have been made functional to set the stage for the games,” Nuzhat Gul, secretary, J&Ok Sports Council, stated.

Gulmarg is among the few locations in the nation deemed match for winter games. “This is the highest platform for those interested in winter games. Players have to compete and achieve ranks to eventually compete in the bigger sports events like Olympics. Even local players are exposed to level of competition through these events,” Ms. Gul stated.

Multi-departments are pooling their sources to make sure that the site visitors on the Srinagar-Gulmarg street stays open in the wake of recent snowfall. Sarmad Hafeez, secretary of the Youth Services and Sports, stated the well being and security of the members and officers will probably be given utmost precedence.

“The games will be a great opportunity for the athletes to experience the facilities and infrastructure at Gulmarg, which has recently hosted several national and international skiing events,” Mr. Hafeez stated.

The meteorological division has predicted intermittent rain and snow at many locations in J&Ok in the following 24 hours.

Games in Gulmarg are held at a time when the Kashmir Valley witnessed a chronic dry spell through the peak winter months of December and January. However, a number of spells of snowfall have come to the rescue of those games this month.
