The ISRO-NASA joint mission NISER (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite, geared toward making world measurement of land floor modifications utilizing superior radar imaging, is proposed to be launched in early 2023, Earth Sciences Minister Jitendra Singh stated on Friday.
In a written response to a query within the Lok Sabha, he stated NISAR is a joint Earth-Observation mission between ISRO and U.S. area company NASA for world observations over all land lots together with the Polar cryosphere and the Indian Ocean area.
“NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISER) has not been launched yet. NISER is proposed to be launched in early 2023,” stated Mr. Singh, who is also the minister for the Department of Space.
It is a dual-band (L-band and S-band) radar imaging mission with the aptitude of full polarimetric and interferometric modes of operation to observe minor modifications in land, vegetation and cryosphere.
NASA is growing L-band SAR and related programs whereas ISRO is growing S-band SAR, spacecraft bus, the launch automobile and related launch providers, Singh stated.
The main scientific goals of the mission are to enhance understanding of the affect of local weather change on Earth’s altering ecosystems, land and coastal processes, land deformations and cryosphere, he stated.
NISER is without doubt one of the essential collaborations of the ISRO and NASA. India and the U.S. had agreed upon this mission throughout then President Barack Obama’s go to to India in 2015.
