The J&Ok administration has barred government workers from criticising or posting adversarial feedback on the government policies on social media platforms.
J&Ok Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta, in a lately held assembly, directed all the executive secretaries within the Union Territory (UT) “to monitor the social media networks on a regular basis and identify the employees criticising and commenting adversely on the government policies and achievements etc. on the social media”.
Mr. Mehta has directed the officers “to challenge notices to those workers below intimation to the General Administrative Department (GAD)“. The GAD is issuing mandatory ‘Circular Instructions’ on this regard, an official communique stated.
The J&Ok administration instructions come amid the continuing anti-encroachment drive within the UT. The drive evoked criticism from a number of sections of the society in J&Ok.
The L-G administration in April 2021, constituted a Special Task Force (STF) for figuring out and scrutinising the government workers who have been concerned in any circumstances associated to posing a risk to the nation’s safety or anti-national actions.
Around 50 workers, together with senior officers, have been terminated from companies in J&Ok prior to now two years below Article 311(2)(C) of the Constitution of India, which doesn’t require any departmental inquiry, and the administration can act on adversarial reviews filed by safety businesses.
