Lucknow, Feb 24 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana on Friday directed the state authorities to cancel ration playing cards issued to ineligible individuals after a probe into it.
The matter was raised by Samajwadi Party MLA from the Gosaiganj constituency in Ayodhya Abhay Singh throughout the Question Hour.
After the MLA mentioned he was not glad with minister Laxmi Narayan Chowdhary’s response to the matter raised by him, the speaker issued the route.
The SP MLA requested if the federal government was privy to a delay in issuing new ration playing cards within the state by officers of the Food and Civil Supplies Department.
He additionally sought to know from the federal government what number of new ration playing cards have been issued and what number of functions are pending in Ayodhya district from 2018 to December 22, 2022.
A written reply to the member’s queries got here from the chief minister. It was said {that a} whole of 1,33,03,625 ration playing cards have been issued within the state towards the functions obtained between April 1, 2018 and December 2022.
A complete of 1,44,628 ration playing cards have been issued towards the functions obtained throughout this era in Ayodhya district and presently solely 658 ration card functions are pending, it mentioned.
The variety of ration playing cards pending on the state stage is 13,31,130, it added.
Raising a supplementary query, Singh mentioned that many ineligible individuals have been issued ration playing cards whereas the needy shouldn’t have them.
“Will the government get it probed?” he requested.
In reply to him, Minister Chowdhary mentioned that if he had any particular grievance, it will be investigated.
Expressing dissatisfaction over this, Singh mentioned it is a statewide downside, following which the speaker requested the minister to conduct a basic inquiry into it and cancel the ration playing cards issued to ineligible ones.
