SUV driver fatally mows down three boys cycling to school near Vaniyambadi

Three class 8 boys, who had been cycling to school on Tuesday morning, had been killed on the spot, after the driver of an SUV hit them from behind, on the service lane of the Chennai – Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) at Valayampattu village near Vaniyambadi in Tirupattur.

The college students had been headed to the Government High School in Girisamudiram village near Vaniyambadi city, once they had been hit by the car at round 9 a.m. The deceased college students are R. Suriya and R. Vijay, siblings, who had been on the identical bicycle, and S. Rafiq, driving one other bicycle, all residents of the Melavalampettai village near Vaniyambadi city.

Police mentioned the SUV driver, V. Santhosh (29), a resident of Viruthampattu village near Katpadi in Vellore, was driving the automotive with 4 passengers, and continuing in direction of Yelagiri Hills. The SUV had a Karnataka registration plate.

“We have secured the accused, the driver. During the initial inquiry, he claimed some cattle had suddenly crossed the highway, causing him to lose control of the vehicle,” Okay. Balakrishnan, Superintendent of Police (SP), Tirupattur, informed The Hindu. After the driver misplaced management, the car veered over to the other facet of the service lane of the freeway, and hit the scholars. Due to the accident, visitors was stalled on the route for an hour, earlier than a big group of police personnel led by the SP regulated the visitors.
