Govt to Bring Retail Trade Policy to Promote Ease of Doing Biz for Traders

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade can also be working to convey an e-commerce coverage for on-line retailers

The authorities is working to convey a nationwide retail commerce coverage for brick and mortar retail merchants with an intention to promote ease of doing enterprise, a senior official stated on Monday. Joint Secretary within the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Sanjiv stated that the coverage would additionally assist in offering higher infrastructure and extra credit score to merchants.

The Department, he stated, can also be working to convey an e-commerce coverage for on-line retailers.

“We need that there must be synergy between e-commerce in addition to retail merchants,” Sanjiv said at a conference on FMCG and e-commerce here.

The Department is also in the process of formulating an insurance scheme for all the retail traders. The accident insurance scheme would particularly help small traders of the country, he added. “The government is trying to do policy changes not only in e-commerce but national retail trade policy which will be for physical traders which will be introducing ease of doing business, providing better infrastructural facilities, providing more credit and providing all sorts of benefits to traders,” he stated.

The Joint Secretary urged the business to give attention to producing prime quality merchandise.
