Excise rip-off case accused and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia is lodged in a Tihar jail cell for senior residents and like every other inmate, has been given primary gadgets and is being served meals as per the jail handbook, officers stated on Tuesday.
The senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief was dropped at the jail right here on Monday shortly after a CBI courtroom remanded him to 14-day judicial custody until March 20 within the case.
Sisodia’s cell is inside Tihar Jail Number-1 and it’s meant for a single one who is a senior citizen, the officers stated.
On Monday evening, he was given primary gadgets resembling blankets, cleaning soap and oral hygiene merchandise, and for dinner, was served rice, chappati, dal, amongst others, in response to the jail handbook, an official stated.
Every jail has a library and each inmate is its member. If anybody desires to have a ebook, he can avail it from there, the officers stated.
Before being despatched to his cell, he underwent a medical examination, they stated.
The courtroom has allowed Sisodia to hold the Bhagavad Gita, spectacles and medicines to jail and directed Tihar authorities to think about his request to be allowed to do Vipassana meditation.
The CBI had arrested Sisodia final week in reference to alleged corruption within the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi liquor coverage for 2021-22.
