Wild tusker Padayappa disrupts traffic in Munnar

A wild tusker, regionally known as Padayappa, disrupted traffic close to Neymakkad, in Munnar on Thursday evening. According to officers, Padayappa blocked the traffic for round half-hour at Neymakkad on the Munnar-Udumalpet National Highway round 10 p.m. Forest division officers mentioned that the tusker arrived on the highway in search of meals. The tusker approached autos on the highway however didn’t assault them. Later, it returned to the forest.

This is the third time the tusker disrupted the traffic on the Munnar- Udumalpet route close to Neymakkad inside a spot of 10 days. On March 7, Padayappa blocked a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus and broke its windscreen close to Neymakkad in Munnar.

On March 5 evening, Padayappa blocked one other KSRTC super-fast bus at Neymakkad property, close to Munnar, and broke its side-view mirror. “Normally wild elephants turn violent but Padayappa was calm and quiet and never attacked anyone,” mentioned a Forest division supply.

For the previous a number of months the tusker has been an energetic presence in and round Munnar.
