Civil Aviation Ministry identified Nagarjunasagar water aerodrome under UDAN scheme: MoS V. K. Singh

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has introduced that Nagarjunasagar water aerodrome has been identified under the UDAN scheme for improvement.

The Ministry has made a provision of ₹20 crore under revival of unserved and underserved airports scheme for the event of water aerodrome and seaplane operations. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Gen. V. Ok. Singh (retd.) stated within the Lok Sabha that Adilabad, Aleru & Kagazpur airports/airstrips have been out there within the tentative checklist of unserved airport within the UDAN Scheme doc.

However, Jakranpally (Nizamabad), Palvancha, Mahbubnagar, Mamnoor (Warangal) and Basantnagar (Peddapalli) airstrips weren’t listed within the tentative checklist of unserved airports within the UDAN doc. “However, these airstrips may be included in the list on the request of the State Government of Telangana, as per the provisions of UDAN Scheme document,” the Minister stated.

He was replying to a question by Congress MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on whether or not the Telangana Government had proposed the event/revival/upgradation of airports in these 5 places. Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy additionally needed to know whether or not Nagarjunasagar was identified for improvement under the water Aerodrome class.

Gen. Singh stated 4 rounds of bidding had been accomplished under the UDAN scheme thus far. Airports Authority of India, the implementing company, awarded 66 UDAN routes in Telangana thus far under the concluded bidding rounds of which 42 routes had been operationalised. He clarified that UDAN was a market pushed scheme and airways based mostly on their evaluation of demand on specific routes would submit their proposals on the time of bidding under the scheme.
