An 18-year-old schoolgirl was stabbed to demise by a youth in Assam`s Karimganj district, officers mentioned on Saturday.
The youth killed the lady with a pointy machete following a dispute in Dalgram village of the district on Friday.
Munwara Begum was a Higher Secondary (HS) pupil on the Kaliganj Public Higher Secondary School.
Partha Protim Das, the Superintendent of police in Karimganj, informed the reporters that on being knowledgeable by the locals, a police crew rushed to the spot and recovered the lady`s physique.
“We have detained one Jaber Ahmed in connection with the incident,” he mentioned.
However, the weapon allegedly used within the crime is but to be recovered.
Das mentioned, “The girl was stabbed on her neck with a sharp machete and she succumbed to the injuries on the spot.”
After an post-mortem, the physique was handed over to the deceased`s household.
An investigation within the incident is underway.
