Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal on Monday (March 8) proposed to extend the month-to-month pension for freedom fighters from Rs 7,500 to Rs 9,400 from April 1 in the state budget for 2021-22.
The government has issued a notification exempting the freedom fighters and their authorized heirs (kids and grandchildren) from the toll tax on state highways on the manufacturing of identification playing cards issued to them.
Also, freedom fighters and their authorized heirs have been supplied with a free bus journey facility in roadways and PEPSU Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) buses.
The government has additionally proposed a free transport facility for college students and ladies and has launched a free pickup facility for ladies at evening by the Punjab Police in all of the districts of the state for which an allocation of Rs 170 crore has been supplied.
The government has proposed to reinforce the help beneath the Aashirwad Scheme from Rs 21,000 to 51,000 from July 1, 2021. An allocation of Rs 250 crore has been supplied in 2021-2022 for this scheme.
Earlier in the day, in order to mark International Women’s Day, Punjab Assembly unanimously handed a decision saluting the “indomitable spirit of women” in contributing to the progress of the nation. This decision was handed moved by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
