Jharkhand: 5 Naxals killed in encounter with security forces

Chatra: As many as 5 Naxals have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Chatra district of Jharkhand, mentioned police on Monday. Among the 5 Maoists, two of them have been carrying rewards of Rs 25 lakh every and different two have been carrying rewards of 5 lakh every. The encounter befell alongside the Chatra-Palamu border in Lawalong police station space, which is round 160 km from Ranchi.

Special Area Committee members killed

According to the police, the 5 naxals who have been killed includes— Gautam Paswan and Charlie each have been Special Area Committee (SAC) members and carried a reward of Rs 25 lakh every, Nandu, Amar Ganjhu and Sanjeev Bhuiyan have been sub-zonal commanders and carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh every.

“Five Maoists were killed and several others suffered bullet injuries. The bodies of all the red rebels have been recovered,” Chatra SP Rakesh Ranjan mentioned. SDPO Ashok Priyadarshi mentioned the gunfight began round 8.30 am.

Huge cache of arms and ammunition

Chatra SP Rakesh Ranjan mentioned an enormous cache of arms and ammunition was additionally seized from the spot. “The seized arms include two AK-47 rifles and two country made rifles. The search operation is still underway,” he mentioned. Further particulars are awaited.
