The authorities on Wednesday knowledgeable the Lok Sabha that it has accredited building 10 atomic power reactors at a value of Rs 1.05 lakh crore by 2031 and doesn’t suggest to stop the use of nuclear power sooner or later.
“No, sir,” Minister of State within the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh stated in response to a query from BSP member Malook Nagar who sought to know whether or not the federal government proposes to utterly stop the use of nuclear power in future and develop standard power sources in a phased method.
In a written reply to a separate query, Singh stated the federal government has accorded administrative approval and monetary sanction for 10 indigenous Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors of 700 MW every in fleet mode.
Two 700 MW reactors every are being constructed at Kaiga in Karnataka, Gorakhpur in Haryana, and Chutka in Madhya Pradesh. Four nuclear reactors can be constructed at Mahi Banswara in Rajasthan, Singh stated.
“These reactors are planned to be set up in ‘fleet mode’ progressively by the year 2031 at a cost of Rs.1,05,000 crore,” the minister stated.
Singh stated the federal government has amended the Atomic Energy Act in 2015 to allow the Joint Ventures of NPCIL with Public Sector Enterprises to arrange nuclear power initiatives.
