As tech layoffs proceed unabated in 2023, Amazon and Google CEOs have hinted at extra layoffs as the businesses proceed to guage the enterprise.
In a letter to firm shareholders, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy mentioned that they reprioritised the place to spend assets, which in the end led to the exhausting choice to remove 27,000 company roles.

Meanwhile, Pichai said that the company is “literally looking at every aspect of what we do” in an effort to re-engineer its price base completely.
In a latest interview with Wall Street Journal, the Alphabet and Google CEO mentioned: “We try to perform that throughout many various methods. We’re actually each facet of what we do, and as we mentioned on our final earnings name, we’re excited about tips on how to re-engineer our price base in a sturdy method.”
“We are definitely being focused on creating durable savings. We are pleased with the progress, but there’s more work left to do,” he was quoted as saying.
Google had in January laid off 12,000 staff in its first spherical of layoffs.
“We’ve determined to scale back our workforce by roughly 12,000 roles. We’ve already despatched a separate e-mail to staff within the US who’re affected. In different international locations, this course of will take longer resulting from native legal guidelines and practices,” Pichai had said in a statement.
Amazon initially eliminated 18,000 positions in January, saying that as “we completed the second phase of our planning this month, it led us to these additional 9,000 role reductions”.
In March, the e-commerce large introduced to put off one other 9,000 staff in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Twitch, promoting, and HR.
