Guwahati: The Assam authorities on Wednesday (April 19) introduced {that a} monthly pension of RsĀ  15,000 will probably be given to loktantra senani, people who participated within the motion for restoration of Democracy during the Emergency interval. Singhal claimed that many states in India are offering pension to jailed people of the Emergency interval, however the quantity given by Assam is the ā€œhighestā€.

Notably, the Emergency was imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for a 21-month interval from 1975 to 1977.
