7th Pay Commission Update: In a bonanza for the federal government employees, the Haryana authorities has introduced a 4 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) to 42 per cent for state authorities workers underneath the seventh pay fee. The transfer comes days after Himachal Pradesh raised DA by 3 per cent to 34 per cent.
According to an order of the Haryana authorities’s finance division on Thursday (April 20), the 4 per cent DA hike from 38 per cent to 42 per cent of the essential pay shall be efficient from January 1, 2023. However, the hike shall be paid with the wage of April, together with the earlier months’ arrears (January-March 2023).
Dearness Relief For Pensioners Also Hiked by 4 per cent
Along with the hike of 4 per cent in DA, the Haryana authorities has additionally elevated the dearness reduction (DR) by 4 per cent for state authorities pensioners and household pensioners drawing their pension/ household pension as per the 7th pay fee construction.

The DR has been enhanced from the present price of 38 per cent to 42 per cent of the essential pension/household pension with impact from January 1, 2023, in accordance with a separate order.
Enhanced DR shall be paid with the pension/household pension of April 2023 and arrears for the months of January to March 2023, shall be paid within the month of May, as per the order.
DA and DR are revised twice a 12 months — January and July. Dearness allowance is given to authorities workers, whereas the dearness reduction is for pensioners.
Last month, the central authorities had additionally hiked the DA by 4 per cent for its workers to 42 per cent, thus elevating their salaries.
Before this, the earlier revision in DA was executed on September 28, 2022, and was efficient from July 1, 2022. The Centre had elevated DA by 4 proportion factors to 38 per cent based mostly on the share improve within the 12 month-to-month common of the All India Consumer Price Index for the interval ending June 2022.
