New Delhi: In a modern growth, the Union Government has determined to grant 42 days of special casual leave to its employees for organ donation. According to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry, the choice has been taken contemplating the time taken for restoration after the key surgical procedure. At current, there’s a provision for 30 days of such special leaves.
“Organ removal from a donor is a major surgery, which requires time for recovery, including both hospitalisation and post-hospitalisation periods,” the Personnel Ministry mentioned.
Further, maintaining in view the noble exercise to assist one other human being and to promote organ donation amongst central authorities employees, it has now been determined to grant a most of 42 days of special casual leave to a central authorities servant for donating their organ(s) to one other human being, as a special welfare measure within the public curiosity, it mentioned.
Duration of special casual leave can be most of 42 days
Irrespective of the kind of surgical procedure for the removing of the donor’s organ, the period of special casual leave can be a most of 42 days in accordance to the advice of authorities registered medical practitioner/physician, the order mentioned.
The leave shall be granted to all kinds of residing donors offered that the donor had been duly permitted for donation by the government-registered medical practitioner in accordance with the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, it mentioned.
The Personnel Ministry mentioned it has been contemplating grant of special casual leave to organ donors within the mild of a number of references/queries obtained, in session with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Some guidelines for availing special casual leave
The special casual leave shall not be mixed with some other leave besides in distinctive circumstances of problems of surgical procedure on medical suggestion by the federal government registered medical practitioner/physician, mentioned the order issued to all central authorities departments/ministries.
Special casual leave shall usually be taken in a single stretch ranging from the day of admission to the hospital. However, in case of requirement, it may be availed beginning most one week prior to surgical procedure on the advice of a government-registered medical practitioner/physician, it added.
