Around 39% of families have encountered financial fraud over the previous three years and simply 24% of them bought their funds again, a survey performed by LocalCircles mentioned on Tuesday, as reported by information company PTI.
The largest group of 23% of respondents within the survey confirmed to have encountered credit score or debit card fraud whereas 13% indicated fraud by shopping for, promoting, and labeled website shoppers.
According to the survey, 13% had been defrauded by web sites that took cash for merchandise that had been by no means delivered, 10% reported ATM card fraud, 10% reported checking account fraud, and 16% reported different varieties of fraud.
“The data shows 30 per cent of those surveyed had one member in the family who had been a victim of financial fraud while 9 per cent indicated that multiple members in their family have been subject to financial fraud in the last three years. Of the remaining 57 per cent were thankful they or their family members had escaped such an experience and 4 per cent gave no clear response,” online survey agency LocalCircles mentioned within the report.
According to the corporate, the survey acquired practically 32,000 responses from families in 331 Indian districts, with 66% male and 34% feminine respondents.
Approximately 39% of respondents got here from tier 1, 35% from tier 2, and 26% got here from tier 3, 4, and rural districts.
When requested if the victims might get their a refund, 24% of the 11,305 responses indicated that they may achieve this, whereas 70% of respondents had been unable to resolve their complaints.

“However, 41 per cent indicated that the ‘matter is still pending’, 17 per cent feel helpless stating ‘there was nowhere to go’, 12 per cent of those surveyed admitted that they decided to not even file a complaint and 6 per cent gave no clear response,” the report mentioned.
While the proportion of families reporting financial frauds has barely decreased in 2023 in comparison with 2022 (the earlier three years), the proportion of families reporting credit score and debit card frauds has elevated from 18% final yr to 23% now, in response to a comparability examine.
