Sharad Pawar Agrees To Reconsider His Move To Quit As NCP Chief, Says Nephew Ajit Pawar | India News

Mumbai: Hours after Sharad Pawar introduced his choice to step down as Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief, his nephew Ajit Pawar on Tuesday mentioned that the veteran Maratha politician has agreed to rethink his transfer. Ajit Pawar mentioned that he would take two to 3 days to rethink his choice. “We told him (Sharad Pawar) that the workers are quite upset. We also told him that party workers want him to remain the party president along with having a working president. He said he will rethink his decision and needs 2-3 days…” NCP chief Ajit Pawar advised reporters as he held talks with protesting occasion employees in Mumbai. 

Sharad Pawar, whereas saying his resignation, mentioned that he has determined to step down because the president of the NCP after helming it for twenty-four years and acknowledged that he won’t contest any extra elections.

“After this prolonged period of political career from May 1, 1960, to May 1, 2023, it is necessary to take a step back. Hence, I have decided to step down as President of the Nationalist Congress Party,” Pawar mentioned after the launch of the second version of his autobiography `Lok Maze Sangati`.

He additional mentioned that he would proceed working within the political, social and cultural life. “I have three years tenure remaining in Rajya Sabha. I will not contest elections now,” the veteran chief mentioned.
