Manipur Violence: Officials on Saturday knowledgeable that the dying toll within the Manipur carnage has raised to 54. 13,000 folks have been rescued

A Defence spokesperson mentioned a complete of 13,000 folks have been rescued and shifted to secure shelters, some in military camps as the military introduced Churachandpur, Moreh, Kakching and Kangpokpi districts below its “firm control”. “In the past 12 hours, Imphal East and West districts witnessed sporadic incidents of arson and attempts by inimical elements to establish blockades. However, the situation was controlled by a firm and synergised response,” the Defence official mentioned on Friday evening.

Soldiers deployed within the state

Nearly 10,000 troopers from the Army and the Assam Rifles have been deployed within the state which was rocked by clashes since Wednesday between the Meitei group, which primarily stay in Imphal Valley, and Naga and Kuki tribals who’re inhabitants of the hill districts.

“Total of approximately 13,000 civilians have been rescued and are currently staying in various ad-hoc boarding facilities specifically created for the purpose within Company Operating Bases & Military Garrisons,” the defence official mentioned.
