Social media platform Twitter Inc is purging accounts which have had no exercise for a number of years, CEO Elon Musk mentioned in a tweet on Monday.
Elon Musk on Monday introduced that Twitter is canceling accounts that haven’t been used for a very long time.
The transfer comes as Musk tries to ramp up engagement, and alternatives to generate profits, on the on-line platform he purchased for $44 billion final yr.

Twitter’s blue ticks were reinstated on some media, celebrity, and other high profile accounts late in April — a move protested by many of the recipients.
Musk tweeted at the time that he was “paying for a few (subscriptions) personally.”
Many official media accounts regained a tick, together with AFP, which has not subscribed to Twitter Blue.
The reinstated ticks didn’t lure again US public radio NPR, which in mid-April suspended exercise on its accounts.
The broadcaster was amongst these to protest the “state-affiliated” and “government-funded” labels Twitter connected to them, which have been beforehand reserved for non-independent media funded by autocratic governments.
Since Musk purchased Twitter, the corporate has relaxed the moderation of content material on the community, letting again many customers banned as a result of of messages inciting hatred or spreading misinformation.
