Alleged apathy of police led to the murder of a woman doctor at Kottarakara: Satheesan

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly V.D. Satheesan has slammed the police negligence for the murder of a younger woman doctor at Kottarakara Government Taluk Hospital, Kollam district on Wednesday.

Addressing the media in Sulthan Bathery, Mr. Satheesan criticised the police for his or her failure to take satisfactory precautions when taking a detainee, reportedly a drug addict, to the hospital. He emphasised that this oversight led to the premature loss of life of the doctor, Vandana Das, who was her dad and mom’ solely little one.

Mr. Satheesan additionally urged a complete investigation into the incident, stressing the significance of holding these accountable for this heartbreaking tragedy.

Coming down closely on Health Minister Veena George for her feedback that the doctor was inexperienced and received scared, Mr. Satheesan remarked that it was lucky the Minister had not but demanded that healthcare employees be taught martial arts like Karate and Kalari for self-defence.

He underscored the existence of a plethora of legal guidelines and acts, together with the Medical Establishment Act, designed to safeguard the job of medical doctors and healthcare employees.

Nevertheless, the State authorities’s obtrusive failure to domesticate a safe environment in healthcare establishments remained a problem, Mr. Satheesan stated, stressing that such predicaments needs to be unequivocally absent from these institutions.

Furthermore, he lamented the persistent neglect in addressing health-care employees’ grievances successfully. 

In a sardonic remark, Mr. Satheesan additionally proposed that Ms. George’s title be immortalised in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Minister answerable for issuing the most investigation orders throughout her time period.
