Amritsar: A loud sound was heard near the Golden Temple in Amritsar within the wee hours on Thursday, which, as per the police, may very well be one other explosion and the suspects are being rounded up. According to the Punjab Police, a loud sound was heard at round 12:15-12:30 am.Â
The loud sound was heard near Sri Guru Ram Dass Niwas, within the neighborhood of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Sri Guru Ram Dass Niwas is the oldest ‘sarai’ (lodge). The Police personnel and forensic staff members are on the spot and probe is underway.Â
 ‘Possibility that it could be another explosion’
Commissioner of Police Naunihal Singh stated, “A loud sound was heard at around 12.15-12.30 am. There’s a possibility that it could be another explosion. It’s being verified and is yet to be confirmed. We have found some pieces behind the building. But since it is dark we are trying to find out.” “The suspects are being rounded up and the probe is on,” he added.
Two blasts in AmritsarÂ
Earlier, two blasts rocked town in almost 24 hours. The first blast occurred on Heritage Street near the Golden Temple on the evening of May 6. An individual was injured in the course of the blast and the glass facades of some buildings have been broken. The second explosion happened on the morning of May 8 and yet one more individual was reported injured. The explosion happened after an unidentified individual hung the explosive substance, a bomb, with a thread from the Heritage Street car parking zone.Â
