Bhubaneswar: Odisha meeting Speaker SN Patro stated on Sunday that BJP MLA Subhas Panigrahi should apologise for violating guidelines by attempting to die by suicide in the House over paddy procurement.
Patro’s remark got here amid a political stalemate over the incident that occurred on Friday with the ruling BJD saying that it’ll not enable the House to perform until the Deogarh MLA apologises.
The speaker stated that since Panigrahi has made a mistake, he should not hesitate to apologise in the House.
Panigrahi’s apology will carry again normalcy in the House which is the necessity of the hour, he stated.
“It depends on the BJP to decide the further course of action,” he added.
Maintaining that there’s a particular algorithm based mostly on which the House runs, Patro asserted that one who deviates from the principles shall be deemed as violating it.
Panigrahi stated that he’ll tender an apology provided that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik does so for placing farmers in hassle as a result of “mismanagement” of paddy procurement.
Earlier, BJP whip Mohan Majhi stated there is no such thing as a query of an apology and the speaker has the facility to droop an MLA and he can achieve this.
Panigrahi on Friday had tried to die by suicide by consuming sanitiser in protest towards the federal government’s alleged apathy in the direction of farmers who face difficulties in disposing of their produces in mandis.
Senior Congress MLA Suresh Routray stated that attempting suicide contained in the House is irresponsible.
Senior BJD chief Snahangini Churia stated the incident has introduced a foul identify for the state and Panigrahi should apologise for his motion.
