RSS shakhas ban in temples: Ok Ananthagopan, President of Travancore Devaswom Board on Tuesday defended the ban on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)’s drills and different activities on the premises of the temples that come below TDB’s management.
“RSS ‘shakhas’ were operating in many temples and performing drills there. This is the reason why such a circular was issued. Temples are for the believers, there should not be any inconvenience to devotees. This is the stand of the Board,” mentioned Ananthagopan.
Earlier, Travancore Devaswom Board issued a round on May 18 to all temples below them to not permit mass drills and different activities organised by the RSS on temple premises.
The round says that this ought to be strictly adopted and motion shall be taken towards these officers who don’t comply with it.
Before this, Travancore Devaswom Board had additionally issued an order on March 30 that aside from temple rituals and festivals, the temple premises shouldn’t be used for some other function.
