New Delhi: India has now made the testing of cough syrups before export mandatory from June 1, following the deaths of 66 and 18 youngsters in Gambia and Uzbekistan respectively allegedly due to Indian-made cough syrups. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) directed authorities laboratories to take a look at cough syrup samples meant for exports “on top priority” and difficulty reviews on the earliest.
