Anand, Carlsen, Ding Liren and Hou Yifan to feature in Global Chess League

The upcoming inaugural version of the Global Chess League (GCL) will feature the game’s icons corresponding to Viswanathan Anand, Magnus Carlsen, Hou Yifan and Ding Liren.

GCL is a three way partnership between Tech Mahindra and the worldwide chess federation FIDE. The full listing of gamers was introduced on Tuesday.

The first season of the Global Chess League might be held on the Dubai Chess & Culture Club from June 21 to July 2 in affiliation with the Dubai Sports Council.

Liren is the reigning world champion, Carlsen is the world’s top-ranked participant, Anand is a five-time world champion whereas Yifan is a four-time ladies’s world champion.

All groups will compete in a one-of-a-kind joint crew format, with every crew consisting of six gamers with a minimal of two ladies chess gamers per facet. To add to the extent of competitors, 5 extra world champions might be competing in the Global Chess League, together with Liren, 2021 world speedy Champion Nodirbek Abdusattorov, 2008 blitz chess world champion Leinier Domínguez, three-time blitz champion Alexander Grischuk and 2018 world speedy champion Daniil Dubov.
