The celt found in Poothinatham village.

A celt, belonging to the neolithic interval, was found in Poothinatham village in Dharmapurai district, the place archaeological excavations are being carried out by Tamil Nadu’s Department of Archaeology.

A. Sivananandam, Deputy Director of the Department of Archaeology, stated it was a big discovery because the celt was used as both a plough or an axe, and was fabricated from Doloraid stone.

The celt was found on June 10 at a depth of 36 cm from the floor. It is 22 cm lengthy. The most width is 4.2 cm and the minimal width is 3.2 cm, Mr. Sivananandam stated.
