Rupee falls 3 paise to 81.93 against U.S. dollar

The rupee depreciated by 3 paise to shut at 81.93 against the U.S. dollar on Monday amid robust American forex against main rivals abroad.

However, the influx of international funds into native equities and a downward development in crude worth capped the autumn within the home unit, foreign exchange merchants mentioned.

At the interbank international alternate, the home unit opened decrease at 81.93 and moved within the vary of 82.01 to 81.90 throughout intra-day.

The unit settled at 81.93 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar, reflecting a lack of 3 paise over the earlier shut.

On Friday, the rupee settled at 81.90 against the dollar.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the buck’s power against a basket of six currencies, was up 0.29% at 102.54.
