The National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF) on Sunday stated it offered 71,500 kg of tomatoes at a subsidised price in the nationwide capital in the two-day mega sale held forward of the Independence Day celebration in order to supply aid to customers from excessive costs.
The mega sale was carried out in 70 completely different places like Seelampur and R Okay Puram in Delhi, the cooperative stated in an announcement.
Out of 71,500 kg of tomatoes, 36,500 kg have been offered on August 12, whereas 35,000 kg on August 13, it added. Tomatoes have been offered at a subsidised price of Rs 70 per kg.
Since July 11, NCCF has been promoting tomatoes at a reduced price on behalf of the Consumer Affairs Ministry to spice up home availability and comprise costs. The mega sale was carried out on account of the Independence Day celebration.
Due to the sustained intervention, the ministry stated the costs are “coming down” in nearly all places in the nation.
