New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha proceedings have been adjourned until 2 pm on Monday (March 22) amid uproar over corruption allegations in Maharashtra.

As quickly because the Question Hour started, treasury bench members raised the Maharashtra issue with Deputy Chairman Harivansh, who was within the Chair, asking them to permit the proceedings. Amid the din, he requested members to ask supplementaries.

However, as quickly as Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi answered supplementaries, the Chair Asked Chaya Verma to proceed to the following query.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar then raised the Maharashtra issue referring to the alleged corruption within the state.

The chair then adjourned the House until 2 pm amid the uproar.

The NCP on Sunday (March 21) dominated out the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh even because the demand for his elimination grew louder over the previous Mumbai police chief’s allegation that he wished cops to gather Rs 100 crore month-to-month from bars and resorts within the metropolis.

Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and staff staged protests in numerous cities demanding the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in view of allegations of corruption levelled in opposition to him by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh.
