Two motorcycle-borne individuals tried to lob the grenade contained in the camp in Tinsukia district of Assam but it surely fell outside and exploded, mentioned the officers on Wednesday.
The explosion passed off outside the gates of an army camp, they added.
According to officers, there was no report of any casualties in the meanwhile.
The blast passed off in entrance of the gates of an army camp at Dirak in the night, a police officer mentioned.
“As per our information, two motorcycle-borne persons tried to lob the grenade inside the camp but it fell outside and exploded,” he added.
The native police initiated an inquiry into the matter and launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.Â
From October 1, the applying of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) was prolonged in 4 districts of Assam — Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Charaideo.
