AAP MLA Somnath Bharti jailed for 2 years in AIIMS security staff attack case

New Delhi: A Delhi courtroom on Tuesday (March 23) upheld the conviction and sentencing order handed by a Justice of the Peace, of two years imprisonment to AAP MLA Somnath Bharti in reference to an assault case of AIIMS security guards. The courtroom additionally dismissed the AAP MLA’s attraction partly.

Special Judge Vikas Dhull partly dismissed Bharti’s attraction and convicted him for the offences underneath sections 147 (rioting) learn with 149 (illegal meeting) of IPC and underneath part 3 (mischief inflicting harm to public property) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

After the pronouncement of the courtroom order, Somnath Bharti was taken into custody. 

In a tweet, Somnath known as it a “false” case and said: “It was March 23 when people in power duly aided by Indian politicians hanged Shahid-e-azam Bhagat Singh Ji, Rajguru Ji and Sukhdev Ji, and today again, I failed to get justice from sessions court and being sent to Jail for my struggle for rights of people in a false case. Inquilab zindabad!”

In January this 12 months, a Justice of the Peace courtroom had sentenced him to 2 years in jail. He was later granted bail to allow him to file an attraction earlier than the excessive courtroom in opposition to his conviction in the case and jail time period.

Earlier on September 9, 2016, the AAP MLA together with practically 300 others had introduced down the fence of a boundary wall on the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) with a JCB operator.
