An explosion by Maoists in Chhattisgarh killed 5 safety personnel and 13 have been injured on Tuesday after the bus during which the personnels have been travelling was blown up by the outfit in Narayanpur district.
The outfit carried out the landmine explosion between Kanhargaon and Kadenar villages beneath Dhaudai police station limits, as per information company PTI. The deceased belonging to the police’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) have been returning within the bus to Naryanpur city, 300 km away from capital Raipur, after a counter-insurgency operation.

As per the PTI sources, 5 DRG personnel, together with the driving force, have been killed within the explosion. Reinforcement was rushed to the spot and our bodies and injured personnel have been evacuated from the forest.
After the incident, the injured personnel have been quickly airlifted to Raipur in an Indian Air Force chopper for therapy.
The bus had round 20 safety personnel onboard on the time of explosion confirmed the state’s Director General of Police D M Awasthi. The bus moved alongside the under-construction Barsoor-Palli street surrounded by dense forest of Abhujmad when the Maoists triggered the landmine blast close to a culvert.
The bus instantly fell off the culvert due to the influence from the explosion. The present assault is the second main Maoist assault on DRG personnel, the frontline anti-Maoist drive of the state police in a yr.
The DRG personnel are recruited from amongst native youth and surrendered Maoists in Bastar division. On March 21, 2020, 17 safety personnel, together with 12 from DRG, have been killed in a Maoist ambush in Sukma district of the area.
