Rupee rises 1 paisa to 83.36 against U.S. dollar in early trade

The rupee rose 1 paisa to 83.36 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on December 12 amid overseas fund influx and softening of the American foreign money against its main rivals.

According to foreign exchange merchants, constructive cues from the home fairness market additionally boosted traders’ sentiment whereas the upward motion of crude oil costs weighed on the Indian foreign money.

At the interbank overseas trade market, the native unit opened at 83.36 against the dollar. The rupee touched the intra-day peak of 83.35 earlier than buying and selling at 83.36 against the American foreign money, up 1 paise from its earlier shut.

On Monday, the home foreign money settled at 83.37 against the U.S. dollar.

“Yesterday, the dollar against its major crosses also traded with low volatility as market participants remain cautious ahead of the important FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) policy statement that is scheduled to be released later this week,” Gaurang Somaiya, foreign exchange and bullion analyst at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, mentioned.

He mentioned merchants may even preserve a tab on the home inflation knowledge in addition to industrial output numbers to be launched later in the day.

“We expect the USD-INR (spot) to trade sideways and quote in the range of 83.20 and 83.50,” Mr. Somaiya mentioned.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the dollar’s energy against a basket of six currencies, was buying and selling 0.11 per cent larger at 103.58 on Tuesday.
