Domestic coal-based power generation rises 8.38% to 779.1 billion units in April-November

The home coal-based power generation elevated 8.38%to 779.1 Billion Units (BU) in April-November FY24 , an official assertion stated on December 23.

In the year-ago interval, the home coal-based power generation stood at 718.83 BU.

India’s power generation elevated 7.71% in the interval below evaluation, the coal ministry stated in an announcement.

The total coal-based power generation witnessed a year-on-year improve of 11.19% in the course of the interval on account of unprecedented rise in temperature, delayed monsoon in the northern area of the nation coupled with the resumption of full business actions post-Covid.

Coal import for mixing decreased considerably by 44.28% to 15.16 million tonne (MT) up to November in the present fiscal from 27.21 MT in the year-ago interval, regardless of the escalating power demand.

“This shows the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in coal production and minimising overall coal imports,” the ministry stated.

The authorities is persistent in its efforts to additional improve coal manufacturing, aiming to improve availability and scale back dependence on imported coal, thereby safeguarding overseas reserves.
