The authorities on Friday prolonged the validity of motor vehicle documents like driving licence (DL), registration certificates (RC) and permits till June 30, 2021, in view of the continued COVID-19 pandemic.
In an advisory to states, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) stated it’s extending the validity of health, allow, driving licence, registration and different documents whose extension of validity couldn’t be granted attributable to lockdown and which had expired since February 1, 2020, or would expire by March 31, 2021.
It had earlier issued advisories dated March 30, 2020, June 9, 2020, August 24, 2020, and December 27, 2020, in reference to extension of validity of documents associated to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.
It is suggested that the validity of the documents which have expired since February 1, the identical could also be handled to be legitimate till June 30, 2021, the ministry stated in an advisory to states.
Enforcement authorities are suggested to deal with such documents legitimate till June 30, 2021, the MoRTH stated including that “this will help out citizens in availing transport-related services”.
Stating that this can be the final advisory on this regard, the ministry has requested the states to implement this advisory in letter and spirit, in order that residents are usually not harassed or face difficulties.
Earlier by numerous notifications, it was suggested that the validity of health, allow (all kinds), licence, registration or every other involved documents could also be handled to be legitimate till March 31, 2021.
