Manipur information: Heavy fuel leaked from a power station in Manipur’s Imphal West district and spilled into streams flowing alongside it, officers stated as we speak (January 11). The incident occurred on Wednesday (January 10) evening on the Leimakhong power station. Streams passing by villages equivalent to Kanto Sabal and Sekmai have been affected by the spill, they stated.
These streams meet the Imphal river- the lifeline of the region- downstream, they added. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) directed the departments involved to take quick vital action to stop an setting calamity, making use of all obtainable sources when it comes to equipment, manpower and experience.
Heavy equipment was deployed to divert the movement of the water within the affected streams in the direction of fields, an official instructed media.
