IndiGo on Monday launched an official assertion on X over a pilot assault on flight incident, saying the passenger – Sahil Katariya – who hit a pilot on a flight handed over to the enforcement businesses and a process began to put him on a ‘no-fly list’.

“On January 14, a customer assaulted our first officer during the announcement of a flight delay flight 6E 2175. As per protocol, the customer was declared unruly and handed over to the local law enforcement agencies. This incident is being referred to the independent internal committee for appropriate action and inclusion of the customer on the ‘no-fly list’ as laid down in regulatory guidelines. The safety and scurity of our customers and crew are of paramount importance, and we maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any such unacceptable behaviour,” the IndiGo assertion learn.

The passenger on an IndiGo flight was arrested after he assaulted a pilot when he was making an announcement relating to a delay in takeoff on the Delhi airport. 

A purported video of the incident, which occurred Sunday, surfaced on social media and confirmed the passenger hitting the pilot as he was making the announcement contained in the plane, which was sure for Goa.

The flight took off from Delhi at 6 pm after a delay of greater than 10 hours, in accordance to flight monitoring web site flightradar24. The incident occurred on a day dense fog majorly impacted operations on the Delhi airport main to many flights being diverted, cancelled or delayed. 

Union Minister reacts to the incident

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia mentioned unruly passenger behaviour is unacceptable and “will be dealt with strongly” in keeping with current authorized provisions. According to him, aviation regulator DGCA will difficulty an SOP (normal working process) for airways on higher communication and facilitation of passengers to minimise discomfort in view of flight cancellations and delays due to antagonistic climate.

In an announcement, the airline mentioned a passenger “assaulted” the co-pilot and that the matter had been referred to an unbiased inner committee for his inclusion within the “no-fly list”.
