Shakib Al Hasan was not noted of Bangladesh’s Twenty20 and oneday worldwide squads on Tuesday for the upcoming residence sequence towards Sri Lanka due to a watch drawback.
DHAKA, Bangladesh: Shakib Al Hasan was not noted of Bangladesh’s Twenty20 and one-day worldwide squads on Tuesday for the upcoming residence sequence towards Sri Lanka due to a watch drawback.
Shakib, who has a problem with the retina in his left eye, final performed for Bangladesh on the 2023 World Cup. He had been changed by Najmul Hossain Shanto as captain for the nationwide crew in all codecs on Monday.
“Shakib has been our first choice as captain always but his vision problem made him unavailable for Bangladesh at this moment,” BCB president Nazmul Hassan mentioned in saying Shanto’s appointment on Monday.
“We had discussion with him but he couldn’t confirm his availability in the upcoming Sri Lanka series. He said his eyesight problem is yet to be solved.”
Veteran Mahmud Ullah and opener Mohammad Naim return to the T20 squad for the primary time since 2022 after robust performances within the Bangladesh Premier League, whereas offspinner Aliss Al Islam is the one new face within the squad.
The three-match T20 sequence begins on March 4 with the ODI sequence beginning March 13.
