State Bank of India should stop issuing electoral bonds election commission should make funding details public – India TV

In a serious judgement which could have a long run impression on funding to political events, the Supreme Court on Thursday struck down the electoral bonds scheme as ‘unconstitutional’ and directed the State Bank of India (SBI) and different banks to instantly stop issuing them.

Supreme Court ordered that SBI shall furnish the details of Electoral Bonds encashed by the political events. The courtroom additionally directed the SBI to submit the details to the Election Commission of India and ordered ECI to publish these details on its web site.

  • The electoral bonds not encashed but shall be refunded, the Supreme Court added.
