The Congress social gathering unveiled its first listing of 39 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Friday, with Rahul Gandhi set to contest from Kerala’s Wayanad constituency as soon as extra. Alongside Gandhi, Congress common secretary Ok C Venugopal will contest from Alappuzha (Kerala), whereas former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel will vie for the Rajnandgaon seat. Other notable candidates embrace Jyotsna Mahant from Korba, Tamradhwaj Sahu from Mahasamund, and Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram.

Representation throughout communities

The listing options 15 common class candidates and 24 candidates from the SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities, in line with Congress treasurer Ajay Maken, who emphasised the mix of youth and expertise throughout the candidates.

CEC assembly highlights

The candidate choice was finalised throughout a gathering of the Congress’ Central Election Committee (CEC), chaired by social gathering president Mallikarjun Kharge. Discussions centered round Lok Sabha seats throughout 11 states and union territories.

Upcoming campaigns

Congress common secretary Venugopal famous the social gathering’s aggressive campaigning mode, notably highlighting Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Gujarat.
