President Droupadi Murmu on Monday (April 22) conferred Padma Vibhushan to former Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu within the discipline of Public Affairs. He obtained the honour at a ceremonial perform held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan within the nationwide capital. Several different personalities had been conferred with Padma Awards by the President. Among the recipients had been founding father of Sulabh International Bindeshwar Pathak, actor Mithun Chakraborty.

The President lauded the previous Vice President and stated that he made for himself a novel place with “humane approach towards governance”.
“President Droupadi Murmu presents Padma Vibhushan for outstanding public service to Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, the 13th Vice-President of India. His long and illustrious career as a leader spans over five decades. He made for himself a unique place in Indian politics with his simplicity and a humane approach towards governance,” Rashtrapati Bhavan posted on X.
Naidu, Pathak, who was given the award posthumously, and famend Bharatanatyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam had been conferred with the Padma Vibhushan.
Other recepients of Padma Awards
Actor Mithun Chakraborty, singer Usha Uthup, former Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik and industrialist Sitaram Jindal had been conferred with the Padma Bhushan.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, amongst others, had been current on the event.
Padma Awards, one of many highest civilian honours of the nation, are conferred in three classes — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
The awards are given in varied disciplines or fields of actions, viz.- artwork, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, commerce and business, medication, literature and training, sports activities, civil service, and many others.
Padma Awards
The Padma Vibhushan is awarded for distinctive and distinguished service, the Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of excessive order and the Padma Shri for distinguished service in any discipline.
The awards are introduced on the eve of Republic Day yearly.
For 2024, the President had authorized conferment of 132 Padma awards, together with two duo circumstances (in a duo case, the award is counted as one).
The record includes 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 110 Padma Shri awards.
As many as 30 of the awardees are girls and the record additionally contains eight folks from the class of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 9 posthumous awardees.
While virtually half of the awardees had been conferred the awards on Monday, the remaining are prone to get them subsequent week.
