EC takes notice of alleged MCC violations by PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi, seeks reply from BJP, Congress – India TV

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday took notice of alleged Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi. The ballot panel sought the replies from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress by 11 am on April 29.

The ECI invoked part 77 of the Representation of the People Act and held get together presidents accountable, as a primary step, to reign in star campaigners. The MCC allegations in opposition to PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi are exchanged with BJP president JP Nadda and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge as a primary step.

The political events must take main and rising accountability for the conduct of their candidates, star campaigners particularly. Campaign speeches by these holding excessive positions are of extra critical penalties, mentioned the ECI.
