Born in 1966, he was New Zealand’s replacement to the legendary bowler, Richard Hadlee. He came in to the NZ side in 1987 during the cricket World Cup in Nagpur. In that match Morrison gave away 69 runs in his 10 overs. Danny Morrison was a perfect strike bowler. Morrison’s ability to swing the ball made him quite popular. However, New Zealand won only two of their 35 Tests when Danny was in the team. Although, he performed well in some matches. Like the 25 March 1994 game against India when he became the first Kiwi cricketer to pick up a hat-trick in an India-NZ match. Danny Morrison played 48 Tests – 96 One-Day Internationals for New Zealand and took 160 and 126 wickets respectively.
But mostly, he became a household name in India and the entire subcontinent due to his unique style of commentary. He started becoming an everyday name in tournaments like IPL, PSL, etc, thus, making him one of the most talked about commentary person.
An ever-present in New Zealand’s Test and ODI sides for a decade, and now a familiar voice in the commentary box.

Not sure this touch of #NRL gold from @SteelyDan66 will resonate with Caribbean fans but this is why my mate Danny Morrison is the best in the commentary business … Jerry Seuseu later … #SeeYouSeeYou @NZWarriors @NRL #cricket @CPL @GYAmazonWarrior @BIMTridents #CPL18 #GAWvBT pic.twitter.com/wRekpubDDM
