Filmmaker Santosh Gupta’s spouse Asmita and daughter Srishti allegedly dedicated suicide by immolating themselves at their residence in Mumbai’s suburban Andheri’s DN Nagar, police mentioned on Wednesday.
The mom and daughter allegedly set themselves ablaze of their condominium at D N Nagar in Andheri (west) on Monday afternoon and the matter got here to gentle when neighbours alerted the fireplace brigade, he mentioned.
As per preliminary reviews, 55-year-old Asmita took the drastic step as she was affected by a protracted kidney ailment. The couple’s daughter Srishti killed herself because of the trauma of her mom’s sickness.
The duo was rushed to Cooper Hospital, the place Asmita was declared lifeless on arrival, whereas Srishti, who suffered 70 per cent burns, succumbed to her accidents at Airoli National Burns Centre on Tuesday, the official mentioned.
“We have registered two different accidental death reports in the case and further investigation is underway,” senior inspector Bharat Gaikwad from DN Nagar police station mentioned.
