Since December 2020, the nation’s merchandise exports are recording optimistic progress. In March this yr, the exports rose by 60.29% to $34.45 billion. However in 2020-21, the shipments had dipped by 7.26% to $290.63 billion.
Product classes that recorded optimistic progress throughout March embody oilmeals, iron ore, carpet, gems and jewelry, engineering items, rice, spices, prescription drugs, chemical compounds, marine merchandise, petroleum merchandise, espresso and tea.
Gems and jewelry are luxurious merchandise and their demand would additionally slowly decide up, Mr Wadhawan mentioned, including that exports are recovering from the extreme COVID-19 impression.
